How We Collect and Use Information
We collect and use information about our users in several ways:
User-Supplied Information: When you sign up for our products, whether directly on the Web or in person with one of our account representatives, we'll ask for some information about you, such as your name, the name of your company or firm, and your address, e-mail, or telephone number. We enter this information into our customer data base, where it is used to service your account, to provide you with the products and services you request, and to inform you of new products or services we think may interest you. We don't share this information with others, unless we say so in this Privacy Policy.
Sometimes, we ask for personal or financial information, which we use for billing or account service purposes only. We only share financial information with affiliates and contractors that need access to that information to do credit checks or to help us service your account. Everyone with access to the information is strictly required to protect its confidentiality.
If you request technical support or other customer support services, we may also ask you to provide information about your computer or about the issues you are trying to resolve. This information is necessary to help us answer your questions. We may record your requests and our responses for quality control purposes.
As part of our services, we offer you the ability to send pertinent information to your friends and business associates directly from our Web sites. To take advantage of this offer, you must provide an e-mail address for each recipient. We may keep a mail log showing the e-mail addresses that you provide but we don't record the content of these e-mails and we don't use this information for any other purpose.
Web server logs: When you visit our Web sites, we may track information about your visit and store that information in Web server logs, which are electronic records of the activities on our sites. Our servers automatically capture and save the information electronically. Examples of the information we may collect include:
- your unique Internet protocol address
- the kind of browser or computer you use
- the number of links you click within the site
- the date and time of your visit
- the pages you viewed on the site
The information we collect in web server logs helps us administer the site and analyze its usage. We store the logs for a period of time but make no attempts to identify individual users or their usage habits unless necessary for quality control purposes, to assist you with any problems you may have, or when legally required.
Cookies: In order to offer and provide a customized and personal service, we may use cookies to store and help track information about you. Cookies are simply small pieces of data that are sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. We may use cookies to help remind us who you are, to deliver content and services based on your account information, and to help you navigate our sites during your visits. Cookies allow us to save passwords and preferences for you so you won't have to re-enter them each time you visit.
The use of cookies is relatively standard and you'll likely find them used on most other major Web sites. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can set your browser to either notify you when you receive a cookie, or to refuse to accept cookies. On LIVEDGAR, you may delete our cookies and reject future cookies by setting your preferences directly on the site. You should understand that some features of many sites may not function properly if you do not accept cookies.
Work Lists and Saved Searches: LIVEDGAR allows you to keep track of your research through Worklists. We store documents and information you select for you in order to help you manage your research. We also store your last 30 searches and allow you to save additional searches. We save this information for your benefit only. We do not access or use the information unless necessary to provide you with support or required by law.
How We Protect Your Information:
The privacy and protection of your personal information is vitally important to us. We store the information in secure, state-of-the-art data centers with restricted access and constant monitoring. We also use technical security measures to prevent the loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control. For example, if you change your preferences or your password, or if you provide us with any personal other information, we use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. In addition, we use sophisticated intrusion detection and virus protection software.
We never sell, rent or lease mailing lists or other customer data to others, and we don't make your personal information available to any unaffiliated third parties except (i) in connection with a corporate divestiture or dissolution where we sell some or all of our business or assets, (ii) if we believe the law requires it, or (iii) if we think it is necessary in order for us to protect our rights or to provide you with the products and services you request. On occasion, we may share some of our customer data with other Thomson Reuters businesses for their product development needs or to offer you products that we think may interest you.
We rely on other Thomson companies for support of the products and services we offer. We may also use the services of unaffiliated contractors. Those companies will have access to your information, but we restrict access to sensitive information to those employees, affiliates, and contractors that need such access for their work. They are all bound to preserve the confidentiality of any sensitive information they may see.
We don't disclose any information about our subscribers' usage, except to enforce the terms of our subscriber agreements, to meet our obligations to content providers, or as required by law. We may use statistics regarding usage for product development purposes, but we only use those statistics in the aggregate and they don't include any personally identifiable information about individual users.
Your access to some of our services and content is password protected. We recommend that you refrain from disclosing your password to anyone. GSI will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. We also recommend that you sign out of your GSI account or service at the end of each session. You may also wish to close your browser window when you have finished your work, especially if you share a computer with someone else or if you are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe. This is to ensure that others can't access your personal information and correspondence. If you want to change your password, you may contact your account representative. For your SEC Currents account, you may also change your password on-line.
If you take advantage of our offer to send e-mails with relevant content from our Web site directly to your friends or business associates, please remember that the information you send can be intercepted and used by others. Although GSI tries to protect your personal information, we can't guarantee the security of the messages we transmit on your behalf. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. You transmit all such information at your own risk. You are also responsible for complying with any laws or regulations concerning unsolicited e-mail transmissions and making sure that the content of such e-mails does not violate any privilege, such as attorney-client privilege.
Our Web sites may contain links to sites maintained by others. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those sites, and we encourage you to use caution when visiting them. In particular, we encourage you view the privacy policy posted on each site.
View and Correct Your Information
You may at any time ask to view the personal information that we have collected about you. Just contact us at gsi.info@thomson.com. To ensure your privacy, we'll ask for information verifying your identity. The information you provide will be used only to verify your identity and will be destroyed when the process is complete.
We are committed to maintaining the accuracy of all information we collect. We'll confirm and correct any inaccuracy that is brought to our attention. If you discover an inaccuracy, please contact us at gsi.info@thomson.com. Of course, we can't correct errors or omissions in documents filed with government authorities or provided by other entities that we don't control.
Opt-out Rights
One of the services we provide is to alert you to new developments that we believe may be of interest to you. If you don't want to take advantage of this service, just contact your account representative and we will remove you from our mailing list. Many of our mailings also include a link that directs you to a Web page where you can unsubscribe from future mailings.
Because the information we provide is taken from various SEC filings and other public records, we can't allow individuals to have records removed from our databases unless those individuals can show that they are subject to a significant risk of harm. We consider each such request on its own merits. If you feel that we should remove a record with information about you, please contact us at gsi.info@thomson.com.
Privacy Policy Changes
If our information practices change in a significant way, we'll post the policy changes.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or about our privacy practices, please send an e-mail message to gsi.info@thomson.com.
